Verdict: Robber sentenced to five years

Sultan Khan was found guilty of committing a robbery in a house five years ago

KARACHI: A district and sessions court sentenced on Tuesday a man to five years in prison after convicting him of committing a robbery around five years ago.

Sultan Khan was found guilty of barging into the house of complainant, Alif Deen Gabol, on September 28, 2011, putting his family hostage and looting cash and valuables worth around Rs0.5 million.

While identifying the accused, the complainant told the court that Khan was accompanied by his absconding accomplices, said to be around five or six in number, and entered into the house after breaking the grill door. The robbers took away Rs375,000 cash, six mobile phones, CNICs and gold ornaments, he added. Khan was arrested a month after the incident and around Rs126,000 and the CNICs were recovered from his possession. However, he pleaded not guilty and maintained that the complainant got him implicated in the case with mala fide intention for demanding a due amount.



He asserted that he worked as a construction labourer at the Gabol house and there was a dispute over payment of wages.

Additional district and sessions judge-I (Malir) observed that the prosecution had successfully established its case.
