Caught in the act: 'Robber' gunned down in shoot-out

Police arrest two other injured suspects after an exchange of fire

KARACHI: An alleged robber was killed during an exchange of fire with the police in North Nazimabad, while two suspects were arrested by the police from Gulshan Chowrangi on Saturday.

Police officials said that the shoot-out took place when two suspects riding a motorcycle were busy robbing citizens near Qalandria Chowk in North Nazimabad. The police personnel busy in routine patrolling reached the site and shot dead one of the suspects after an exchange of fire, while his companion managed to escape. The police also seized a pistol from his possession.

The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and was later shifted to Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for identification. While appreciating the police performance, Sindh IG Ghulam Hyder Jamali announced Rs0.1 million as reward for the police personnel who participated in the shoot-out. A case has been registered while further investigation is underway.

On the other hand, Gulshan-e-Iqbal police arrested two robbers in an injured condition after an exchange of fire near Gulshan Chowrangi. The suspects were identified as Rauf and Faisal. SSP Javed Jiskani said that the police reached the site after they were informed via police helpline Madadgar 15 by a citizen. The robbers allegedly opened fire at the police and tried to escape, however, the police arrested both the robbers and also seized weapons and looted valuables from their possession.
