Fighting TB: High-tech lab inaugurated at HMC

The provincial minister said these actions aimed at providing quality health services to the people of K-P

PESHAWAR: A state-of-the-art biosafety laboratory of level-III was inaugurated at Hayatabad Medical Complex in the city. A handout stated Senior Minister for Health Shahram Tarakai formally inaugurated the newly established laboratory on Monday.

This international standard laboratory was established with the financial assistance of the German government and with technical support from the TB Control Programme. It will help the timely diagnosis for tuberculosis. Tarakai termed the establishment of the lab a landmark achievement in the health sector and said it would achieve lasting results to benefit current and future generations.

Touching upon the reforms and initiatives of the PTI government in the health sector, the provincial minister said these actions aimed at providing quality health services to the people of K-P. He highlighted there was room for improvement, but the government was committed to achieving the desired results. “Besides improving health service delivery, the initiatives aimed to benefit health workers.”
