HYDERABAD:

Nationalist leaders in Sindh have accused the provincial government for failing to ensure adequate representation of the province in the census commission.

"Due to the PPP government's inability, the census commission lacks representation from Sindh," said Sindh United Party chief Jalal Mehmood Shah while talking to media in Tando Muhammad Khan on Sunday.

He claimed Sindh's population has doubled since the last census in 1998 and demanded separate registration of immigrants who have recently naturalised in the province. Shah also welcomed the Pakistan Army's involvement in the enumeration exercise. Ayaz Latif Palijo, leader of Qaumi Awami Tehreek, at a separate press conference in Hyderabad asked the Sindh government to explain what stance it will take to the meeting of the Council of Common Interests, scheduled to take place on Monday (today).
