Imran thanks COAS for allotment of land for Shaukat Khanum hospital in Karachi

DHA is providing 18 acres of land in DHA City, located on the Super Highway, for the establishment of the hospital

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan expressed on Sunday his gratitude to Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif after Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi agreed to grant land for Shaukat Khanum hospital.

Imran said on his Facebook page that he wanted to express his thanks to the army chief for allotting land for his welfare hospital.

"Want to thank COAS Gen Raheel for helping SKMTH by granting land in DHA Karachi for the hospital," the social media post read.

On February 24, DHA and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a cancer hospital in Karachi.

DHA administrator Brigadier Zubair Ahmed confirmed to The Express Tribune that the MoU had been signed. “This is a huge milestone for DHA and will benefit the whole community,” he said.

DHA is providing 18 acres of land in DHA City, located on the Super Highway, for the establishment of the hospital. It will cater not only to the residents of Karachi but also those hailing from Balochistan, rural Sindh and Southern Punjab.

bigsaf | 8 years ago | Reply So much for civilian rule. Imagine a US politician publicly thanking a US general for transferring land or real estate, whether private or public ownership, to him for whatever purposes. So many things wrong with that picture.

Mohammed | 8 years ago | Reply @Ch. Allah Daad: I agree the money should be given to the Sharif family so that they could spend more time in London. At the moment its around 50% but with this money could be better spent by the Sharifs on family holidays.

sami | 8 years ago | Reply I hope imran still remembers that Nawaz Sharif gave him land for cancer hospital out of the way in relaxation of rules. Nawaz Sharif also waived off duty from every imported equipment for the hospital .unfortunately in return imran gave Nawaz shareef abuse and foul language.

They are also running a world class hospital and providing free and subsidized treatment to needy from Zakat fund. They could even develop more then 18 acres into world class hospital, if given to them but for now even just 18 acres would suffice. Would DHA give the land to them?

Malik Saab | 8 years ago | Reply Just a small reminder to everyone that this land of 18 acres was transferred to DHA for defense purposes. The Military recently got more than 5000 acres of Land in Sindh for free and that too for the defense establishment and expansion of current bases in Sindh. All of that land is consumed for private ventures. This is the biggest corruption scandal and no one will ever talk. Out of which hundreds of acres have already been given to Army Public schools, Shopping malls, Marriage halls, DHA Cinema projects.family and for personal friends. Imran Khan should thank the People of Pakistan as it is the land of Pakistani people where New Shaukat Khanum will be constructed. It was not the personal property of Raheel Sharif. The astonishing aspect is that government is obliged to give free land to Pakistan Army, but the Army chief cannot be questioned that how that land is being used. This is lack of Professionalism as nobody is allowed to give any Public land out of Personal liking. Who will question Pakistan Army?. Who will question that DHA gets all the funding from the Defense budget of Pakistan and Army Officers use the acquired land for their Personal reasons?. Giving the land for a hospital is a good omen.. But a Government assigned land for Defense purposes cannot be given by any Personality for any other reasons other than peculiar Defense needs . The Army Chief is not allowed to Grant a Public Land to any third party. It is agaisnt the Law and a complete violation in terms of code of conduct.
