Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday expressed grief over the martyrdom of four Pakistan Army soldiers in a gun battle with militants in the Shawal Valley.

In a statement, he sent his condolences to the families and loved ones of the martyred soldiers. “These men showed bravery and courage till their very last breath. They put the nation and its future before their own. Your children were their children. They are a shining example of what this country needs in this hour ,” he said.

The premier added that in a war like this, there is little room for complacency. “This is a battle of good versus evil and what defines us as a people. Those who lost their lives today in this never-ending struggle are worthy of being called pride of our nation. They will be in our hearts and prayers, and we will make sure that their sacrifices do not go in vain.”
