KARACHI:

A Sindh High Court division bench, headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, directed the incharge of the Airport Security Force (ASF) IT department to file a report on the backup capacity of the CCTV system installed at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

The judges were hearing a petition regarding the alleged disappearance of an architect, Mirza Saud Ali Baig, from the airport premises after being deported from Dubai.

The petitioner, Wajeeda Yaqub Siddiqui, said her husband, who was serving as an architect at Dubai-based Arex Consultants, reached the airport with his family members on September 1, from where masked men took him away.

During the last hearing, the officials said that the CCTV system installed at the airport has the capacity to maintain backup for only 25 days. On Tuesday, ASF IT department incharge Major Yasir appeared in court. The bench ordered him to comply with the court's earlier directives to provide complete details of the CCTV recording system till March 21.
