BATKHELA: The investigation and operation units of Malakand Levies have been separated in a bid to expedite crime solving. Speaking to journalists in Batkhela on Tuesday, Malakand Levies Commandant Khaystaur Rehman Khan said the decision was taken after a series of delays was reported in completing investigation in some cases. At least 80 cases from 2014-15 were pending due to incomplete investigation. A show-cause notice has been sent to the investigation office in this regard. According to the levies commandant, when a case is registered, the investigation must be completed within 14 days and submitted to the court. “Around 11 personnel for the investigation department have been assigned at each police station in Batkhela, Dargai and Sakhakot. He added eight personnel each will also be deputed for the rest of the 13 police stations. “The step aims to provide people with swift justice,” he added. A notification about the decision to separate both units has been issued to the 127 personnel of the Malakand Levies, including the investigation in charge, investigation officers and supporting staff of 16 police stations.
