All shook up: 5.9 magnitude quake jolts parts of K-P

Following tremors, people rushed outdoors amid panic

PESHAWAR: Tremors were felt in various cities of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa after a 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit the region. The Pakistan Meteorological Department officials said there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The epicentre was in the Hindu Kush mountain range inside Afghanistan at a depth of 157 kilometres, the officials said. The quake was also felt in Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Swat and Bajaur Agency, among other areas. Following tremors, people rushed outdoors amid panic. On October 26, a 7.5 magnitude quake ripped across Pakistan killing over 200 people, levelling entire villages.
