Pat on the back: NAB Multan Bureau lauded for performance in 2015

Will continue to work on merit, NAB chairman says

MULTAN: The National Accounting Bureau (NAB) will continue to work on merit, NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said during his visit to the NAB Multan Regional Bureau on Wednesday. Chaudhry visited the office to review its performance with regard to the Chairman’s Inspection and Monitoring Team’s annual inspection.

The CIMT was tasked with conducting an annual inspection for the year 2015. They stayed at the regional office between February 15 and February 17 to review and evaluate the NAB Multan Bureau’s performance based on the recently-introduced Partly Quantified Grading System (PQGS).

The CIMT was led by a senior member who gave the NAB chairman a detailed briefing about the annual inspection conducted and discussed the regional office’s strengths and weaknesses.

He said that they had created the PQGS in 2014 on the directions of Qamar Zaman Chaudhry. The performance reviews of all regional bureaus of the NAB were conducted under the PQGS in January, 2014, and in February with uniform criteria. He said the bureaus that had performed exceedingly well were marked 80 per cent; bureaus that scored between 60 and 70 per cent were considered very good; bureaus that scored between 40 per cent and 49 per cent were considered good; and those that scored less than 40 per cent were considered below average.

He said Multan had scored 97 per cent on the Operational Efficiency Index.

Chaudhry appreciated the performance of the Multan Regional Bureau and congratulated the Multan NAB chairman for managing the bureau well. He urged the officials at the regional bureau to continue working vigilantly, honestly and diligently in order to eradicate corruption from the country. “There is always room for improvement…excellent work speaks for itself and never goes unrewarded.”

He also thanked the CIMT for their efforts in providing comprehensive review of the bureau’s performance during 2015.

Chaudhry said that the Multan Regional Bureau had been established recently. “The bureau has made massive headway since its establishment and is a feather in NAB’s hat.”

During 2015, NAB office had received 1,438 complaints which were processed according to law. Multan NAB arrested seven people and filed 16 corruption references during 2015. It also recovered Rs21.13 million in 2015.

The NAB chairman had directed the CIMT to conduct annual inspections of all regional NAB bureaus starting January 2016.

Bureaus in Karachi, Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sukkur and Lahore were completed in January.
