Yoga Expert and co-founder of the Ultimate Detox juices Salina Taqi, and her equally talented sister, and the brains behind Sukaina’s Pop Up Shop, Sukaina Taqi Jaffer talk to us about giving each other a haircut, crazy college experiences and being each other’s ultimate go-to girl
What’s your first memory of each other?
Salina: My first memory must’ve been when I was around three years old, I remember playing with Sukaina for endless hours in our garden in Geneva.
Sukaina: I remember the first time my parents brought the Salz home. I was only 15 months old, but somehow I remember that moment very clearly.
What is the craziest thing you have done together?
Salina: Much to my mom’s dismay, we cut each other’s hair during playtime. Thankfully her reaction was only to immediately confiscate the scissors and laugh really hard!
Sukaina: We both went to college in Massachusetts. Enough said.
What did you get punished for the most as a child?
Salina: Talking back to my parents.
Sukaina: I had a lot of energy, according to my mom, so I would be running around, never sitting still, always creating havoc in the house, and that was the usual cause of my punishment!
If you could only wear one piece of clothing for the rest of your life, from the others closet, what would it be?
Salina: That is a tough one! There are far too many goodies in her closet to choose just one.
Sukaina: Her vintage Chanel earrings and belt.
If you could swap places with each other, what’s the first thing you would you do?
Salina: Write a book.
Sukaina: Some crazy yoga poses!
What is the one thing you love about your sister?
Salina: I love Sukz’s analytical skills. She has the ability to logically solve anything.
Sukaina: Her ability to express herself so clearly, and the fact that she doesn’t tolerate any nonsense.
If you are fighting with each other, how do you make up?
Salina: I’m always the first to say sorry, because I can’t imagine what I would do without her!
Sukaina: We haven’t fought in ages so can’t comment!
What is the one secret talent your sister has, that you wish you did too?
Salina: She’s so charming and makes friends instantly! Oh, and she’s super caring.
Sukaina: I’m more diplomatic and tend to sugar-coat things while she has the ability to set people straight without them even knowing! She says it like she sees it, but in a very smart way. I really wish I could do that too.
Describe your sister in three words
Salina: Elegant, gorgeous and intelligent.
Sukaina: Confident, loving and crazy.
Which fictional character is your sister most like?
Salina: She’s a mix between Monica from Friends, and Elsa from Frozen. She’s OCD and a little bit of a perfectionist like Monica and she’s also the protective older sister like Elsa.
Sukaina: Angelica from Rugrats! When we were kids, my brother and I would tease her by calling her Angelica. I think it was because her laugh was similar to Angelica’s.
How are your personalities similar?
Salina: We both work on our spirituality.
Sukaina: We both have the same drive and passion for life.
I can’t live without my sister because…
Salina: She is my mentor. I can’t make a single decision without her!
Sukaina: She’s my confidante, my stress buster, and
my go-to girl!
