Your ultimate guide to Lahore Eat 2016

Here are the 10 stalls that have us most excited at the festival

February 21, 2016

It’s time for Karachi to watch and Lahore to binge as Lahore Eat 2016 is finally around the corner. T.Edit brings you the perfect guide to help get you to the treats you just can’t miss this week!

From a concert stage featuring local underground bands to a specially designed play area for children, the festival has us pretty excited. The main attraction will have to be the 45 different vendors bringing their culinary expertise out into the playing field!

Here are the 10 stalls that have us most excited at the festival:

Head Of The Table:

These eateries have already made a name for themselves and are bringing their very best to the festival.

The Lahore Social and Café Upstairs Mini Restaurant:

These popular eateries will be setting up a mini restaurant where you can try all their specialities for under PKR 300! If you always wanted to try The Lahore Social’s steamed salmon with truffle mash or Café Upstairs’ spicy Buffalo wings, now is your chance. The super friendly owner Sohail Salahuddin will be there, so do stop by and
say hello!

Cosa Nostra:

Lahore’s most popular eatery known for its pizzas, pastas and gelato will be at Lahore Eat 2016 and guess what? They are developing new flavours of gelato especially for the festival. Look out for the carrot and cardamom infused gelato along with the Semolina (suji) flavours.

The Deli:

Zahra Khan of The Deli has developed a range of gourmet sandwiches for the festival. If you are in the mood for a hearty sandwich we are sure their corned beef with pickle sandwich will not disappoint you. Don’t forget to try their all-new raspberry and walnut tart!

Fresh In The Market:

These stalls are going to be experimental and fresh, with people from different walks of life taking on the mega challenge of feeding a city known for its food.

The Shack: Fish & Chips and Tacos:

This stall made quite an impact at the Karachi Eat festival last year with its crispy batter-fried fish and chips along with the same fish filet infused with jalapeños and spicy sauces, wrapped up in a taco. If you’re in the mood to try something tantalizing, you know what to look out for!

Maro Tandoors:

While this little eatery in Model Town rose to fame for their Nutella naan, they have developed new flavours such as tarragon naan and teriyaki naan for Lahore Eat. Watch out for the Philly cheesesteak naan and the hot nut naan.  Additionally, they are introducing the Nutella lassi, and even though we are not sure how this will taste, it, is on our list of things to try!

Sarrak Pe Karrak:

Chai dhabbas are the new burger joints, and this little dhabba was started by three LUMS students who are steadily becoming popular for their different flavours of tea. With ten different flavours including karrak, zaffran, masala, chocolate and chai latte, there’s a lot to try! With the Nutella naan fad on the rise, we are looking forward to trying Sarrak Pe Karrak’s Nutella dumplings!

Chili Chutney:

This restaurant located in Johar Town is bringing its hot sellers, Chili Chutney khaas kebabs to Lahore Eat 2016. These chicken kebabs are stuffed with cheese and mint to create a fresh and spicy concoction. Don’t forget to nibble on their meetha naan, filled with pistachios, cashew nuts, almonds and brown sugar.

Shanghai Chinese:

Originally located in Faisal Town, this Chinese restaurant is known for its fried calamari, but for Lahore Eat 2016 it is bringing its chicken chowmein and chicken in black pepper sauce along with regular signature dishes to the table. If you are in the mood to taste some oriental magic, Shanghai Chinese would be a great stop.

Frusta Delights:

Calling all brownie lovers! This little catering service has a wide array of items on its menu including salads, halwas and tiramisu but we have our eyes on the chocolate walnut fudge brownie. By the looks of it, this gooey treat will be just the right way to end the day for someone with a sweet tooth!

Shut up and Eat:

All mothers want their children to eat healthy and this particular stall is just the place for those looking for a healthy option. A resident at the Khaalis Food Market, Shut Up and Eat is known for cooking live pastas, delicious dahi bhallay and fresh smoothies. On our radar is its fresh banana and blueberry smoothie.
