Police claimed on Friday to have arrested two kidnappers and recovered a boy from their custody.

City Police Officer Muhammad Azhar Akram told a press conference that Muhammad Umair Siddique, a resident of Karri Misri Khan, had been abducted on Wednesday evening. He said the kidnappers had sent an SMS to his parents, demanding Rs3 million.

He said after negotiating with the boy’s father, the kidnappers had agreed to return him to his family for a Rs1.5 million ransom.

The CPO said in the meantime, the boy’s father had alerted the police. He said a team had been formed who traced the kidnappers through their mobile phone numbers.

The CPO said Zeeshan Babar and Shoaib Iqbal were arrested when they were returning after receiving the ransom from Yousaf Saddique, father of kidnapped boy, near Jahanian City.

He said the police had also arrested another accomplice Muhammad Saleem and recovered the boy.

The CPO announced cash rewards and commendatory certificates for the police team.
