The promotion issue of several teachers of federal colleges and deputy headmasters of schools could not be taken by a department promotion committee (DPC) for the second time.
A DPC of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) was supposed to meet on Monday to take up the promotion issue of 17 teachers, however, the DPC could not be convened in the wake of removal of Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) former director-general Moinuddin Ahmad Wani on the order of the Supreme Court, a source said.
Earlier, the DPC was supposed to meet on February 3 to take up the promotion issue, but it had been rescheduled for February 8.
The teachers have been waiting for their promotions since March 2014.
The teachers who have served for about more than 15 years in BS-17 were hopeful that they would be promoted only to be disappointed over the delay. The last DPC meeting was held in March 2014.
A lecturer, on the condition of anonymity said, “political and bureaucratic interventions in the FDE have been ignoring the rules for hiring a profession director-general. He said that the FDE’s disregard towards promotions has lowered the morale of the teachers.
