ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) is preparing to add 125 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfd) to the national distribution system by the end of next month, say company officials.

“The additional supply will help to meet growing energy demand in different sectors to some extent, while the company has further expedited its exploration activities across the country,” they told APP.

OGDC to expand Nashpa field

OGDC has recently made two significant oil and gas discoveries in Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). It has found 35.7 mmcfd of gas in Thal East-well 1 located in Sindh and 1,032 barrels of crude oil per day in Nashpa-well 5 in K-P.

“OGDC has the target to drill 31 wells in all provinces during the current financial year and hopefully it will be achieved,” they said.

At present, 17 wells were under the drilling process, nine new wells had been dug and five were in the testing phase. In the current month, six more wells would be drilled and the company would complete all the process by June 2016, they added.

Currently, the company has 24 exploration licences and it is also busy in exploration and production activities in Balochistan where some areas were inaccessible earlier.

Appointments in OGDC made at hefty packages

OGDC has also initiated 2D and 3D seismic data surveys in eight blocks in the province to step up oil and gas exploration activities.
