UPPER DIR: Traders and shopkeepers of Wari Bazaar in Upper Dir took to the streets over the failure of the police to prevent thieves from looting seven shops within the jurisdiction on Wari police station on Friday night. A shopkeeper told The Express Tribune on Saturday, unidentified thieves broke into seven shops and decamped with 11 grammes of gold, cash and other items of daily use. He added the market is located very close to Wari police station. “And yet, the thieves looted the shops without fearing the police,” he said. “The police did not take any steps to arrest the thieves or conduct a search operation.” The agitated shopkeepers shouted slogans against the local police and demanded an investigation into the matter.
