ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that Pakistani consumers were receiving the lowest prices for fuel compared to global standards. The minister said that Pakistan reduced Rs5 per liter on Monday while neighbouring country India had reduced it by Rs0.04 per liter. He added that it was an incorrect perception that the advantage of price decrease was not being passed onto the common man. Abbasi said that no extra tax had been imposed on fuel items and that the government was collecting tax on petrol at Rs25.59 per liter against Rs26 mentioned in the budget. The price of petrol was decreased up to Rs42 during the period of the present government, he added.
