Public expectations on defence, natural disasters will be met

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Thursday said that the military will always respond to the appeals of the nation.
According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief visited the Hyderabad garrison on Thursday.

During his visit he met officers, troops and veterans of the formation and Sindh Regimental Centre. He appreciated the formation for their performance in operations and security and the military’s resolve.
“The army will always respond to the call of the nation and come up to their expectations, whether it is for defence of the motherland or during natural calamities,” he said.
Gen Raheel also visited Sindh Regimental Centre where he laid a wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada memorial and offered prayers.

Earlier, upon his arrival in Hyderabad, Gen Raheel was received by Corps Commander Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar.
His visit comes a day after he visited the Corps Headquarters in Karachi where he reviewed progress made in the ongoing security operation in Karachi by law enforcement agencies. During the meeting, he was briefed about the operations carried out and it was decided to expedite the operation focussing on terrorists, target killers and extortionists.
