World Customs Day: Large cache of alcohol, drugs destroyed

About 22,400 liquor bottles, 54,611 beer cans, 16Kg heroin, 60 Kg hashish, 20 cartons of medicines burnt

KARACHI: To mark the occasion of World Customs Day, Pakistan Customs burnt confiscated drugs and destroyed smuggled liquor bottles in a ceremony held at Customs Colony near Mauripur Road, Karachi.

About 22,400 liquor bottles, 54,611 beer cans, 16Kg heroin, 60 Kg hashish, 20 cartons of medicines and thousands of packets of gutka were burnt during the ceremony.

“This ceremony is conducted each year,” said South Chief Collector-Enforcement Zahid Khokhar during an address. “Our mission against smuggling will continue till the end.”
