Faculty training course starts at UET

UET Vice Chancellor Fazal Ahmed Khalid said the university was determined to enhance the quality of higher education

A three-day training workshop started on Monday at the University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore for the training of newly-appointed faculty members.


The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) invited UET Vice Chancellor Fazal Ahmed Khalid, Punjab Environmental Tribunal Technical Board Member AR Saleemi, former dean Noor Muhammad Sheikh and UET Quality Enhancement Cell Director Ghulam Abbas Anjum to address the workshop.

Dr Khalid said the university was determined to enhance the quality of higher education. “The capabilities of newly-inducted faculty members will be enhanced by equipping them with all necessary professional training,’ he said. He said the prime function of universities was to create knowledge and that value addition could only occur through innovation, skill and commitment. He said conducting research was the key role of university teachers. He emphasised the importance of outcome-based education system for higher education institutions in achieving these goals to fulfil the country’s needs. Higher Education Commission Quality Assurance Agency Director Nasir Shah appreciated the initiative. In the first workshop session, former VC Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro AK Rajpoot, HEC Lahore Director Nazir Hussain and Saeedul Hassan Chishti were also present.
