PESHAWAR/ GHALLANAI: The body of a khasadar official was found in Safi tehsil, Mohmand Agency on Monday, after he was abducted three days ago.

An official of the political administration confirmed Rehmatullah, a resident of Alingar in Safi, had been murdered and his body dumped. His body was found in a search operation.

The official added the khasadar officer was the son of a former peace committee leader, Saifur Rehman. According to the political administration official, Rehmatullah was abducted by unidentified persons Saturday night from his house in Alingar which is situated on the border of Bajaur Agency.

The Mohmand political administration along with security forces arrested a few suspects from the area during a search operation, also on Monday.

It is said such incidents became rare after the area was declared clear post military operations in 2011. However, 2015 witnessed many attacks on security officials and peace committee leaders in the agency.

The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan splinter group Jamaatul Ahrar claimed responsibility.

Under attack

In one of such instances on October 3, 2015, a security forces official was killed and two others were injured when an improvised explosive device went off in Baizai subdivision in Mohmand Agency.

A political administration official in Upper Mohmand had said security forces were patrolling Soran Valley in Baizai when the IED went off.

Another attack on the security forces took place on May 6, 2015, wherein seven officials were injured when an improvised explosive device went off. The device was planted in the roadside in Ghungat Jour area of Safi tehsil.

The officials who were injured in the attack were en route to Bajaur Agency.
