Illicit weapons: Man sentenced to 12 years in jail
The police had seized an unlicenced pistol and hand grenades from his possesion
KARACHI:
An anti-terrorism court sentenced on Monday a man to 12 years in prison for possessing illicit weapons and explosives. The ATC-II judge handed down the sentence to Subhan Ali, said to be a political activist, after scrutinising the evidence against him. Ali was arrested in February last year by the New Karachi police. The police had seized an unlicenced pistol and hand grenades from his possesion. The judge, while pronouncing the verdict, observed that the prosecution had “beyond any shadow of doubt” proved the charges against the suspect. The convict was also fined Rs10,000. If he fails to pay the amount, he will undergo an additional imprisonment of six months.
