Misusing the system: Three men arrested for hoax bomb calls
We traced the numbers and arrested the men. A case has now been registered against them,” said the police officer
KARACHI:
Three men were arrested for making hoax calls to the 15 Madadgar Helpline, claiming that bombs were planted at two locations in North Karachi. They said that they did so because they wanted a protesting crowd to disperse and consumers to resume business at the CNG station where they worked. Sir Syed police station SHO Raja Tanveer said three men, Sajawal, Asif and a guard Shakir, all employees of a CNG station, were arrested after they made calls to the 15 helpline. The men claimed that there was bomb planted in at least two different places of North Karachi on Sunday night. Panic spread amongst the residents when Amma Park, said to be one of the bomb sites, was vacated and the bomb disposal squad reached the spot. The men, using another mobile phone, also claimed that there was bomb planted near another CNG station. “We traced the numbers and arrested the men. A case has now been registered against them,” said the police officer.
