Kohat project: Dam to irrigate over 3,000 acres

The construction of Zamir Gul Dam in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohat district will cost Rs987 million with an allocation of Rs500 million in the Public Sector Development Programme 2015-16. The dam will have 27.43 km long channels and irrigate 3,535 acres of barren land. It will have the catchment area of 36.5 square miles and a capacity of storing 7,971 acre feet of water. The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has accorded the approval to the project in its recently held meeting, according to official sources in the Ministry of Planning and Development. The dam is being constructed on Palah Khwar on Nizampur Road at Ziarat Sheikh Allahdad some 71 km away from Kohat.
