ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday arrested two former military officials and the head of a private company on charges of corruption and misuse of authority in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Islamabad farmhouse scam with an accountability court granting the authority eight-day physical remand of the men.

According to NAB, former DHA-Islamabad Administrator Brig (R) Javed Iqbal, Ex- Project Director DHA-Islamabad Col (R) Sabahat Qadeer Butt had misused their authority and violated the contract when they sold allotment certificates of DHA-Islamabad illegally and in violation of agreement between DHA-Islamabad and Elysium Holdings Pakistan Ltd.

NAB also arrested Elysium’s Chief Executive Officer Wasim Aslam for illegal sales of non-saleable certificates of DHA-Islamabad in violation of contract agreement and without payment to landowners.

Elysium’s management has been accused of causing a huge loss to the DHA for not completing the DHA-Islamabad Ranches project and selling certificates of DHA Ranches in violation of the contract agreement.

An accountability court has granted physical remand of the three men till January 29 while NAB in Rawalpindi has launched a formal inquiry process.
