KARACHI:

A judicial magistrate sent on Tuesday two policemen on a two-day physical remand in the murder case of a 22-year-old student. Constables Hamza Altaf and Mudassir Nazir of Gizri police have been booked for allegedly killing Shaharyar in Defence Housing Authority on the night of January 17. According to the prosecution, the incident took place when the victim, along with his friends, was on the way to Sea View riding motorcycles when the police signalled them to stop. They, except Shaharyar, did stop, upon which the cops fired shots at Shaharyar, which later proved fatal. The investigating officer submitted that the custody of the suspects was required for questioning, to which the judicial magistrate of South district, Shees Khoso, remanded the suspects seeking a progress report on the next hearing.
