Rising street crime: I-9 SHO suspended for poor performance
A show-cause notice had previously been served on the officer
ISLAMABAD:
The senior superintendent of police (SSP) operations has suspended the Industrial Area SHO over poor performance, said a police official.
Aashiq Khan was posted at Industrial Area Police Station last year. Sources said the crime rate, especially street crimes, increased in the area after his posting, which led to his suspension.
A show-cause notice had previously been served on the officer.
Khan is the second SHO suspended this month. In the first week of January, Shalimar SHO Khalid Awan was suspended after a criminal case was registered against a minor in a land grabbing case.
The police sources said that 21 robberies were reported in the Industrial Area jurisdiction last year, while 28 cases of vehicle theft, 21 of motorcycle theft, and 39 relating to illegal arms were reported, they further informed.
This year eight cases of robberies and burglaries have already been reported. Similarly, two cars and three motorcycles were stolen in the jurisdiction.
Operations SSP Sajid Kiani confirmed to The Express Tribune that the officer has been suspended due to poor performance as he failed to reduce crime, especially robberies.
Kiani said the performance of all the SHOs was being monitored regularly and strict action will be taken against anyone failing to control crime in their respective jurisdiction.
