KARACHI: The bodies of a newly-wed couple were found inside their residential apartment in Garden on Sunday. Thirty-year-old Amir and his wife, Misbah, 28, were found in their apartment, Azeem Plaza, located near Shoe Market within the limits of the Garden police station in the early hours of Sunday after neighbours informed the police.

Police officials while quoting the initial investigation, said the body of the man was lying on the bed while his wife's in the bathroom. "They married about eight months ago according to their own wishes," explained Garden SHO Imdad Khawaja. "Their families, particularly the family of the woman, were unhappy with their marriage."  The husband used to work at a shop in Ranchore Lane area while his wife was a bank employee.

After their freewill marriage, the couple rented an apartment. The bodies were later shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi for autopsies. The doctors at the hospital while quoting the initial medical examination of the victims said that the woman was strangled to death while her husband's cause of death has yet to be ascertained, but marks of torture were also found on his neck. Their samples were sent to the laboratory for medical examination to ascertain the actual causes of death.

"It could be possible that the husband killed himself by consuming poison after killing his wife," speculated the officer. But he could not be sure as the investigation was at the preliminary level. The bodies were later handed over to their families for the burial process. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
