Imposters: Police arrest thieves posing as cops

Police say they are hopeful of making recoveries from the suspects

ISLAMABAD: The Special Investigation Unit of the Islamabad Police has arrested two fraudsters involved in looting foreign arrivals by impersonating police and custom officials. According to police on Saturday, an SIU team investigated various complaints and arrested Nauman alias Nomi, Masood and Shahid. Following an interrogation from the suspects, police arrested two of their accomplices; Haroon Shehzad and Mazhar Iqbal. During a preliminary probe, they confessed to snatching foreign currency from Aashiq Hussain, returning from Dubai near PSO Petrol Pump on Islamabad Highway. Similarly, they admitted to looting Sudhair Ali within the Secretariat police area, Sultan Sikandar Haidri, Qurban, Munshi Khan in Sihala police area and Khalilur Rehman in Koral police area. Police say they are hopeful of making recoveries from the suspects.
