LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Friday sought comments from the Nawankot SHO on a petition seeking registration of a case against 13 police officials for illegally detaining the petitioner. Waseem Zakariya had accused the officials, including the CCPO, the Operations DIG, the Operations SSP and the SHO, for “abducting” him after he refused to bribe them.

He said police had arrested him without giving him any reason. He said when he refused to pay them Rs10 million, they had staged a fake encounter involving him but he had survived. He said they had later released him. He said when he had asked the SHO to register an FIR against them, the officer had not done so. He requested the court to direct the SHO to register an FIR against them.
