Raid: Over 280kg substandard meat seized

Police have registered a case against them

RAWALPINDI: Police on Friday raided a beef shop on Adiala Road and seized around 280kg beef after it was found to be harmful for human consumption. Sihala Slaughter House general manager Dr Farrukh Nazeer said that he along with a team of Saddar Beruni police station raided “Daniyal Beef” shop at Adiala Road Chungi. He said the beef on sale was found to be stale, fouls smelling and very harmful for human consumption. He said the meat was probably from sick and dead animals. Police seized around 280kg meat. Bakht Khan, the shopkeeper and two others managed to escape before the raid. Police have registered a case against them.
