Public health: Kidney Complex must open in six months

The minister also reviewed cleanliness arrangements and the installation of machinery at the new complex

Cooperatives Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar visited Bahawal Victoria Hospital on Thursday and told the hospital administration to open the hospital’s newly-constructed Kidney Complex for patients in six months. He said that the Kidney Complex building and equipment had cost Rs380 million and it could cater to 150 patients at a time. He said the Kidney Complex has kidney transplant facilities and machines to conduct tests like tissue typing. The minister also reviewed cleanliness arrangements and the installation of machinery at the new complex. Urology Department Head Shafqat Ali Tabassum said the hospital treated up to 150 patients suffering from kidney-related diseases at the OPD every day. He said the hospital would also have dialysis machines. He said that they would ensure that a sufficient number of doctors and nurses were appointed for the Kidney Complex.
