Makes 187 and takes three wickets to give side emphatic 65-run win over Karachi Whites

KARACHI: An all-round performance by Muhammad Nawaz, which included a 187-run knock and three wickets, steered NBP to a 65-run win over Karachi Whites in the third round of National One-Day Cup at the NBP Stadium in Karachi.

NBP, who were asked to bat first, posted a strong total of 335-9 as Nawaz struck 19 fours and two sixes in his 157-ball stay. Ghulam Mudassar, meanwhile, claimed four scalps.

Chasing 336, Karachi Whites were restricted to 270-9 as Nawaz took 3-59 while Owais Rehmani (82) was the highest scorer for the losing side.

In the match at the Pindi Stadium, Younus Khan made 91 runs to help UBL defeat Lahore Blues by 131 runs. UBL set a 268-run target that Lahore Blues, who had elected to field, were unable to chase as Sadaf Mehdi claimed three scalps to dismiss them for 136.

At the National Stadium of Karachi, Khalid Usman registered a five-wicket haul to guide Wapda to a 126-run win over Lahore Whites. Having been asked to bat first, Wapda made 317-8 with the help of Atiqur Rehman’s 78 and managed to restrict Lahore Whites to 191 as Usman ran riot with his five-for while Zahid Mansoor also claimed four wickets.

At the UBL Ground in Karachi, Rawalpindi succumbed to a 51-run defeat as HBL, who had elected to bat first and had given a 288-run target, restricted Rawalpindi to 236-7.

At the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad, Muhammad Yasin made 119 runs to guide KRL to a 124-run win over Fata.

Meanwhile, SNGPL defeated Hyderabad by 29 runs as the former restrict the latter to 198 after making 228 at the Marghazar Ground in Islamabad, while SSGC, who had set a 247-run target, defeated Peshawar by 123 runs at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar.

In the last match of the day, Islamabad, who had given a 216-run target, defeated Port Qasim Authority by a run.
