BANNU:

Traders and property owners in North Waziristan agreed to stand united and demand the reconstruction of their shops and businesses. This was decided during a jirga held in Bannu on Sunday.

JUI-Sami’s North Waziristan-chapter organised a grand jirga and members of two groups agreed to fight for their rights. JUI-S Ameer Maulana Abdul Haye Haqqani, Utmanzai tribal chief Malik Shehzada and Dawar tribe head Malik Jan addressed the gathering. They said issues of traders and shop and home owners were the same.

While the traders demanded rehabilitation in the area, property owners wanted the reconstruction of destroyed buildings. The issue could only be resolved through the mutual consent of these groups, said the three elders.

The president of the traders’ association, Dil Piyao Khan, and Eshmadullah thanked the elders for their concern. The elders pointed out urban centres in North Waziristan, such as Miranshah and Mirali, were badly affected by the military operation against terrorists.
