FAISALABAD:

The city traffic police are taking measures to establish a model traffic system in the eight bazaars surrounding the Clock Tower Chowk, Chief Traffic Officer Sardar Asif said in a meeting with representatives of various trade organisations on Wednesday.

He said the first phase of the plan had been launched at Rail Bazaar and Kutchery Bazaar. He said parking on right side of the bazaars will be prohibited. On the left side, a lane will be reserved for motorcycle parking and another lane will be reserved for car, the CTO said.

He said they needed the traders’ cooperation in order to address parking problems in the bazaars.

“We are trying to take several steps to improve the traffic system there.” He said that citizens would see an organised parking in the bazaars soon.

Traffic police will have the authority to register cases against violators after seeking permission from circle DSPs in the district. He said violation of the one-way rule will not be tolerated. He said anti-encroachment operations would be held daily in consultation with representatives of trade organisations.
