LAHORE:

The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) is collaborating with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organisation of Turkey (KOSGEB) to start new courses in entrepreneurship, management and accountancy.

TEVTA Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that KOSGEB would provide technical assistance to TEVTA for the promotion of skilled training. He was addressing a meeting at TEVTA secretariat.

“This collaboration will be helpful to start new managerial-level courses. During my visit to Turkey meaningful discussions with officials of the KOSGEB gave us the confidence to propose a sustained cooperation between the TEVTA, the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) and the KOSGEB in the fields of technical and vocational training to promote skills under a tripartite arrangement,” he said.

He said now, a proposal had been sent to the KOSGEB by the TEVTA to proceed further in the matter. “Through this mutual collaboration, special focus will be given to launch courses for 8,000 TEVTA pass-outs interested in setting up their small business by getting interest free loans,” he said.

The chairperson said that a delegation of the KOSGEB would soon visit Pakistan to finalise the plan to provide technical assistance. “During this visit, we will finalise the increase in technical cooperation in the spheres of entrepreneurship, financing, technology and innovation,” he said. Sheikh said the TEVTA, with the collaboration of the KOSGEB, would also identify new strategies.
