The government should take indiscriminate action against terrorists across the country, said Abdul Aleem Khan, political adviser to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman.
Khan said the people supported Pakistan Army in its efforts to defeat terrorism. “We honour those who have sacrificed their lives in this war,” he said.
Khan said that it was commendable that Pakistan Army had resolved to root out the terrorism.
“Operation Zarb-i-Azb has been a vital part of the efforts against terrorism,” he said.
He said it was imperative for civilian leaders to honour their commitments under the National Action Plan. “The government should take practical steps under the National Action Plan.”
Criticising political leaders for their inaction, Khan said it was time the government showed commitment to curbing terrorism.
“Terrorism has wreaked havoc in the country for more than a decade,” he said.
“The government should make sure that there indiscriminate action against terrorists of all hues and shades,” he said. “It is time for the government to show seriousness on this matter, not just make empty promises.” Khan also criticised the government’s failure to widen the tax net.
Meanwhile, PTI Punjab organiser Chaudhry Sarwar said the government should launch a crackdown on terrorists and their facilitators in the Punjab.
“Where were security institutions when Daesh was becoming strong in the Punjab?”
He said the Punjab Police was busy victimising political rivals of the ruling party instead of arresting terrorists.
