Round-up: 300 street criminals arrested in 2010

Police recovers looted items worth Rs37.5 million.

ISLAMABAD: Police arrested 300 persons involved in street crimes during 2010 and recovered looted items worth Rs37.5 million, a police official said. The recovered amount included 229 mobile phones, 44 cars and two motorbikes.

Police officials also obtained a record of persons who were involved in street crimes and succeeded in arresting 300 criminals.

City Circle Police arrested 24 persons with 21 mobile phones and one car, while Margallah Circle Police held 83 accused with 96 mobile phones, four cars and two motorbikes. Similarly, Saddar Circle Police arrested 46 with 17 vehicles and 27 mobile phones. Furthermore, Shahzad Town and Rural Circle arrested 76 accused with 14 vehicles and 29 cell phones.

According to police, Industrial Area Circle Police arrested 38 persons with five cars and 30 mobile phones, while Secretariat Circle Police arrested 33 persons and recovered three cars and 23 mobile phones from their possession.
