The Capital Development Authority (CDA), during its drive against non-conforming use of residential unit in the last six months sealed a total of 74 houses for violating building by-laws.

As part of the drive, initiated on the directives of the Supreme Court, the civic agency on Friday sealed five housing units in sectors F-6, F-10 and E-7 for running different businesses in violation of building by-laws.

A CDA spokesperson said that owners of these houses had been served notices asking them to remove businesses, however, they did not comply with the orders.

The spokesperson said that the CDA will not back out from targeting the violators as it has to submit a weekly progress report to the Supreme Court.

He said that the ongoing operation will continue in coming days.

Meanwhile, the chairman CDA has directed the concerned formations of the authority to expedite the ongoing operation against the non-conforming use.

Meanwhile, operation against encroachments in different areas of the city is also under way. Anti-encroachment teams of the CDA enforcement directorate on Friday removed encroachments from G-9 Markaz (Karachi Company), according to a statement issued by the CDA.
