Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Tuesday that nine suspects, who were arrested from Daska by the counter-terrorism department (CTD), have no direct connection with Da’ish.
“Preliminary investigation has found that the suspects had no direct contact with Da’ish. They were preaching and trying to get support locally,” he told reporters.
According to the law minister, the suspects were trying to become Da’ish local representative on their own and were in contact with somebody named Abu Muawia on the social media. “They were also planning to go to Syria.” All those who supported them will be rounded up and interrogated, he added.
Meanwhile, a special court gave 10 days physical remand of the nine suspects to the CTD authorities. According to the sources, important maps and other documents have been recovered from the arrested suspects.
