Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Taufeeq’s double ton lifts SNGPL

Talat chips in with 86 to take first-innings total to 512 against Lahore Blues

KARACHI: Taufeeq Umar’s double-century helped SNGPL take their first-innings total to 512 against Lahore Blues in the final round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy’s Super Eight stage at the National Stadium of Karachi on Tuesday.

SNGPL resumed their first innings on 183-1 and added 329 runs to their tally as Taufeeq scored 247 runs with Hussain Talat making 86. Ahmed Bashir from Lahore Blues took six wickets.

In another match, Wapda added 267 runs to their overnight score of 233-3 before declaring on 500-9 with the help of a 144-run knock by Atiqur Rehman against KRL at the UBL Ground in Karachi. Saeed Anwer Jr and Sadaf Hussain took four and three wickets respectively for KRL. At the end of play, KRL were batting on 21-0 in their first innings.

At the South End Club, Karachi Whites resumed their innings on 232-4 and finished at 276 runs as NBP’s Muhammad Nawaz and Ahmed Jamal took four wickets. At stumps, NBP were on 222-6 with Fawad Alam (52) on the crease.

Meanwhile, UBL’s first innings was restricted to 218 as SSGC’s Adnan Ghous and Tabish Khan took four wickets each. SSGC were on 198-5 at the close of play with a 95-run lead with Asif Zakir (46) and Saifullah Bangash (20) holding the fort.
