KARACHI: The Sindh High Court issued orders to respondent police officers to produce the alleged detained men on Tuesday.

Expressing displeasure with the police officers for failing to produce the men, a division bench comprising justices Gulzar Ahmed and Imam Bux Baloch issued the orders. The bench was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Anees Fatima, who maintained that her relative Pervez along with two other visitors, Ali Mehdi and Abrar Ahmed, were taken into custody on December 18, 2010, by a joint raiding team.

Since the day of the arrest, the family was unaware of the whereabouts of these men, the counsel for petitioner maintained. When the case was taken up, SHO Saddar told the court that the three men are in legal custody and have been booked under section 353/324 of Pakistan Penal Code and 13D of Arms Ordinance.

They are also wanted in a number of crimes registered at Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station, the SHO added.

The bench ordered issuance of Production Order (PO) for the missing men for Tuesday, January 11, and adjourned the proceedings.
