The Health Department has sent a case for the recruitment of 1,373 charge nurses for the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) for approval to the Finance Department.
According to the department, the grade 16 posts will have an annual budget of Rs490 million for their salaries.
Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Khalid Mahmood had earlier requested the government to appoint the nurses. In his request, Mahmood had said that the LGH had been functional since 1958. “The number of patients has increased,” he had said. Prof Mehmood said that the number of beds had been increased to 1,000 at the LGH. “An increase in the posts of charge nurses according to the ratio of patients is inevitable,” he had said.
Agreeing to the recommendations of the LGH principal, the Punjab Health Department has referred the case for the recruitment of 1,373 charge nurses to the Finance Department for approval.
