Bomb defused outside trader’s house in the city

PESHAWAR: At least one person died while three others were injured when two vehicles collided on Kohat Road in the city on Sunday. The accident took place within the jurisdiction of Badabher police station.

“A car collided with a flying coach, resulting in the death of 50-year-old Paio Jana,” a police official told journalists. “Locals rushed the injured to Lady Reading Hospital.”

Defused

Separately, a bomb planted outside the house of a trader was defused within the jurisdiction of Gulbahar police station.

An official of Gulbahar police told The Express Tribune police received information that unidentified men planted a bomb weighing four kilogrammes outside the house of a trader.

“However, the bomb disposal unit reached the site and defused the device,” he said. The official added the bomb was powerful enough to destroy the entire house. A case was filed and further investigation is under way. Asif, the owner of the house, has repeatedly received threats from extortionists.

In custody

Over 20 suspects were arrested during a search operation in Pishtakhara. Four guns, a submachine gun and hundreds of rounds of ammunitions were seized from the suspects. They were shifted to Pishtakhara police station for further interrogation.
