
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday paid a surprise visit to the route of Orange Line Metro Train, says a handout.
The chief minister reviewed the pace of construction from Dera Gujjaran to Samanabad during the three-hour visit. He also chaired a meeting at the site office near the University of Engineering and Technology. He was briefed on the progress of work on Package-I of the project.
Sharif said the project would be completed within two years.
He directed the CTO to evolve an efficient traffic management plan along the train’s route. He said he was pleased to see labourers working on the public holiday on Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH).
Separately, the chief minister felicitated the Christian community on Christmas.
He said the birthday of Jesus Christ (PBUH) was a sacred day for both Christians and Muslims.
The chief minister said that all citizens in the country had equal rights. He said that the provincial government had taken solid measures for the welfare of all minority communities, including Christians. He said minority groups were an important for the nation.
