RAWALPINDI: A woman and her two daughters died of asphyxia, while her husband and son fell unconscious due to gas leakage in their house in Gulraiz Colony Phase-III, here on Thursday.

Uzma Amir, 35, her two daughters -- Alishba Amir, 15, and Sana Amir, 10 – died while her 40 years old husband, Amir, and four years old son Zohaib fell unconscious.

The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital by Rescue 1122 officials. The unconscious man and his son were shifted to Military Hospital.

According to rescuers and the police, the family kept a gas heater in their bedroom without turning it off. The heater sometimes during night got switched off due to low gas pressure.

According to the rescuers the family might have fallen asleep.

Gas continued to leak after the supply was resumed.

“The family members died of suffocation caused by gas,” said a statement issued by Rescue 1122. The doctors handed over the bodies to heirs after carrying out post-mortem.
