Nation celebrates Eid Milad-un-Nabi with religious fervour

Religious processions are expected to be taken out in different cities to commemorate birth of Holy Prophet (pbuh)

KARACHI: Eid Milad-un-Nabi is being celebrated today (Thursday) across the country with religious zeal and fervour. The day, celebrated on 12th of Rabiul Awal, marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

The day commenced with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital while 21-gun salutes given in all other provincial capitals.

A number of religious processions and rallies are expected to be taken out in different cities to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) while a number of Milad gatherings will also be held across the country.

Rabiul Awwal procession: Over 28,000 cops to provide security today

Numerous mosques and government buildings have been illuminated with decorative lighting while security has been put on high alert in order to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion.

More than 28,000 policemen have been deployed in Karachi to provide security. Commandos of the Rapid Response Force, Special Security Unit and personnel from the different police training centres, Sindh Reserve Police, Anti-Encroachment Cell and Crime Branch have also be deployed on security duties for nearly 1,115 programmes relating to the celebrations of Rabiul Awwal 12 and 515 processions and rallies in the metropolis.

Apart from these, policemen in nearly 571 police mobiles and on 574 motorcycles are also performing security duty. The SHOs of the relevant police stations have been asked to conduct extra patrolling and routine checking in their respective areas. Buildings, houses and shops, which are located on the routes of the main processions, have already been scrutinised for security purpose.

Eid Miladun Nabi: Security heightened in twin cities along procession routes

Meanwhile, administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have also made elaborate security arrangements for Eid Miladun Nabi celebrations. As part of the security arrangement, leaves of Rescue 1122 officials and police have been cancelled ahead of Eid Milad and Christmas that fall on consecutive days.
