LAHORE:

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government, led by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has put the country back on the right track, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday.

He was talking to several members of the National Assembly who called on him.

“Since 2013, Pakistan is moving towards progress and prosperity,” he said.

The chief minister said that every effort of the government was directed towards improvement of the living standards of the people.

“All possible measures are being taken for the achievement of development targets and elimination of energy crisis. Work is being carried out expeditiously on power projects,” he said.

The CM said that China had proved a sincere and reliable friend of Pakistan. “China has given us a historic package of $46 billion under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Under the CPEC, $36 billion has been allocated for energy projects,” he said.

He said that those who staged sit-ins last year had hindered the projects of national development and progress. “The masses have rejected these enemies of progress and prosperity in the by-elections and local government elections,” he said.

The chief minister said that Pakistan could not afford such protests for it was time for unity and harmony. “Those who staged useless sit-ins should give up their negative attitude in the interest of the country. The PML-N is implementing its agenda of public service and provision of basic amenities to the citizens in accordance with its manifesto,” he said.

He said that public money was being spent honestly. “The goal of national progress and prosperity will be achieved through hard work. Poverty, ignorance, unemployment and load-shedding will be eliminated from the country and Pakistan will be transformed in accordance with the vision of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal,” he said. Tehmina Daultana, Sardar Irfan Dogar, Nawabzada Mazhar Ali and MPA Manshaullah Butt were present at the meeting.
