Finding alternatives: Experts call for renewable resources

Underlined the need for developing small projects through conventional and non-conventional means

An energy expert has called for developing renewable resources to overcome energy shortage. The expert, Dr Shoaib Ahmed, in his keynote speech at a seminar arranged by the Allama Iqbal Open University Physics department here on Tuesday stressed the need for exploring ways to developing viable energy resources particularly solar and wind, to overcome electricity shortage. The seminar aimed at providing academic support to policy-makers to meet the energy shortage through alternative resources. In his inaugural speech Vice-Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui said the university will encourage students to develop small projects in energy sector which could be displayed at the inventors’ exhibition next year. He underlined the need for developing small projects through conventional and non-conventional means. This could be achieved by promoting entrepreneurship at the level of young scientists and researchers, he added.
