Changing course: PU incorporates population courses

Punjab University’s Department of Mass Communications is set to introduce the subject of “population and development” in its bachelors and master programmes. The Population Council announced this in a meeting on Tuesday, said a press release. Dr Naeemuz Zafar from the Planning Commission stressed that Pakistan should incorporate population issues into Vision 2025; and in light of the Sustainable Development Goals, recently signed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, there is a chance to align population, health, and growth strategies in the provinces. Senior faculty of eleven public universities, including Punjab University, Lahore, Bahauddin Zakaria University, Multan, Gomal University, DI Khan, University of Peshawar, and Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur participated in the meeting.
